How We Test and Rate Products
Every product reviewed by The Consumer News is tested by our editorial team under real-world Nigerian conditions. We do not accept free products from manufacturers — all items are purchased independently at retail prices or borrowed and returned.
Our Rating Scale
We rate products on a scale of 1 to 10. A score of 8 or above represents excellent value and performance. A score of 5 or below indicates significant concerns. We publish our full scoring criteria for each product category.
How We Investigate
Our investigations begin with data — freedom of information requests, regulatory filings, consumer complaint databases and laboratory test results. We always contact companies named in investigations and publish their responses in full.
Corrections Policy
We correct errors promptly and transparently. If you believe we have made a factual error, please contact our editorial team at corrections@theconsumernews.com. Corrections are published on the original article with a clear note of what changed and when.
Laboratory Testing
We commission independent laboratory testing through accredited facilities for supplement and food safety investigations. All laboratory results are reviewed by qualified specialists before publication.
