The recalled drinks were distributed to Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin.

The recall is classified Class II. Under the US classification system, this generally applies when using the product may cause temporary or medically reversible health effects, or when the chance of serious harm is remote. It is a lower tier than Class I, which is reserved for products that could cause serious harm or death.

Undeclared dyes matter mainly to people with sensitivities.

Yellow No. 5 (tartrazine) is a known trigger of reactions in some people, which is why colour additives are required to be listed on labels.
